Biography

Jonathan was most recently a Director, Portfolio Manager, & Senior Analyst at Crestwood Advisors, a wealth management firm in Boston. His primary areas of expertise are in equity research, asset allocation, portfolio management and the development & implementation of investment processes. Jonathan has a proven ability to lead teams of investment professionals and excels at leveraging technology in order to solve complex problems. He recently developed a collaborative wiki for Crestwood that not only greatly improved the productivity of the investment team but also improved communication firm-wide & strengthened client relationships

Over the years as an analyst Jonathan has covered a wide spectrum of industries and sectors including consumer discretionary, hotels/leisure, energy, insurance and financials, and for many years was responsible for responsible for originating, researching, and recommending investments at the firm, delivering five consecutive years of benchmark outperformance .

More recently, he has been focusing effort on the asset allocation process, alternative investments, renewable energy technology & other socially responsible investments, an asset class he is passionate about and continues to see great investment opportunities in.

Jonathan's investment philosophy is rooted in value investing and emphasizes bottom-up fundamental analysis, earnings quality and free cash flow. Much this investment discipline was galvanized working for several years as an analyst at J.L. Kaplan Associates and later Evergreen Investments, which acquired the institutional small cap value manager in 2002.

His passion for investing began in the sixth grade when his grandmother convinced him to spend a summer’s worth of busboy tips on 10 shares of Gillette Stock.

Interests

Jonathan loves to spend time outdoors and as close to the beach or the mountains as possible, and is an avid sports enthusiast and outdoorsman. He enjoys golf, tennis, skiing, boating, and mountain biking. He also loves to cook, travel, and can usually be found at bookstore on a rainy weekend afternoon. His greatest passion though is music; he loves seeing live music, listening to bluegrass, the Grateful Dead, and enjoys playing the lead guitar in his band, Rattlemeat.
